Beneath the surface, there are only remnants of a substance that has made modern mobility, globalization, the plastics industry and probably even capitalism as we know it possible. In the future, it is to become an experimental repository for compressed CO2, and the oil in the underground caverns will be replaced by the result of its combustion.
