Jackie Raynal: Screening and Conversation
<p>Wednesday 27 January 2016, 7pm</p> <p>Best known for her elliptical feature length film <em>Deux Fois </em>(1968), screening every Wednesday within <em>The Inoperative Community</em>, Jackie Raynal was also the editor of a number French new wave films, including Éric Rohmer’s <em>La Collectionneuse </em>(1967).</p> <p>Extending <em>The Inoperative Community</em> Wednesday screening programme, which features <em>Deux Fois</em> and two other Zanzibar productions, a one-off screening of Raynal’s rarely seen <em>New York Story</em> (1981) will be followed by a conversation between Raynal and curator Dan Kidner, exploring her varied career.</p> <p>Jackie Raynal (b. 1940, France) worked as a film editor in Paris in the 1960s. She moved to New York in 1975 where she became programmer at Bleecker Street Cinema. She continued to make films and appeared in a number of others including Yvonne Rainer’s <em>The Man Who Envied Women </em>(1985). She lives and works in Paris and New York.</p>
