Statement by Benjamin “Champagne” Song

Post-sentencing statement by Benjamin “Champagne” Song, who was sentenced on June 23, 2026, to 100 years in prison for actions stemming from a noise demonstration held in solidarity with people inside the Prairieland ICE Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas, on July 4, 2025. On the same day, Song’s codefendants Savanna Batten, Zachary Evetts, Autumn Hill, Maricela Rueda, Daniel Rolando Sanchez Estrada, and Elizabeth Soto received prison sentences spanning 30 to 70 years. On July 1, 2026, Ines Soto was sentenced to 50 years in prison.

Sanchez Estrada, who was not present at the demonstration, received a 30-year sentence for transporting a box of antifascist zines. As evidence for the federal charge of “providing material support to terrorism,” prosecutors pointed to several defendants’ distribution of “insurrectionary materials called ‘zines’” at anarchist book fairs.

Released, in an open edition, at the Brooklyn Art Book Fair in July 2026.
